A recent photo edit that I did, learning everyday….

So, I do a wide variety of photography at the moment.  Which I love.  But, like all of my life, I never master one.  This morning I watched some videos on some techniques that I already use & I figured some new ways to match them together.  Actually, using them simultaneously.  This may not mean much to you, it's kinda photoshop talk.  But, I was able to get out of a rut, a little bit.  I hope I retain what I have learned...

Carter Lake

Electric Peak, MT | elev. 10,968ft

This is the view that I grew up with. Then, it was Long’s Peak (Twin Peaks) as I grew older. Been so spoiled with magnificent views my whole childhood. It really effected me. Possibly, the leading determining factor in why I am who I am. That is saying a lot, you know, God & all. But, the landscape is God, so… Just seeing sunrise/sunset/storms/clear skies/night skies/snow capped/dry…… what a beautiful thing to behold everyday of a young life. I love the mountains.

Grand Prismatic Spring | Oil Painting

Not sure how these are viewing on your screen, all digital devices are different, or can be. I am going to print these this afternoon to check them out. I made them with canvas style prints in mind, hopefully paper looks good too. Stay tuned! Enjoying messing around with the effects on photoshop. These are not just simply applying the setting & walking away. I used multiple layers, varying the brush settings, blending them together & altering colors, etc.
Yellowstone Park

Lower Falls of the Grand Canyon in Yellowstone Park

One of the many iconic photo locations in Yellowstone, the South Rim Drive of the Canyon.  Definitely, one of the spots I remember most from my early visits to the park.  The canyon is stunning, it is just a reminder of the many "looks" the park has in such a relatively small area of land.  The falls have a lookout directly above the crest of the falls.  You can see some people standing there in this photo.  It is quite the impressive site, in that particular location as well.  I did take some video, but that vantage point, I don't know if pictures really capture the power of the falls.  The river is so heavy & it is channeled even narrower at the drop.  I have never been to Niagara, so I wonder how it compares.

I took a few different shots from various locations here.  This isn't particularly my favorite that I took, but I wanted to see the detail I got at full zoom (120mm).  I am looking forward to having my souped up computer that will be able to eat HDR's for lunch!!  Till then I am stuck on my tricycle (laptop) pedaling as fast as I can....

Lower Falls Yellowstone River

Sunset at Carter Lake, Colorado

Wow!  Incredible sunset.  The pictures don't even come close to doing it justice.  I was just overwhelmed, this setting was so powerful.  The water on the lake & the different mountain ranges, varying in depth.  This would have been a great HDR.  The boaters & wakeboarders out there will remember this evening for a long time.  It was stunning.  Maybe the most moving sunset I have ever seen, or at least in recent memory.  My kids were there with me, which made it even more special as I continue trying to show them how beautiful where I grew up was & have it impact them in a way it did/does, me.  As you turn around from this spot where I took this picture, you can see DIA, Loveland area/Berthoud area, as the suns rays shine down on the cities & towns of the Front Range.  Unfortunately, my vehicle & a telephone pole were messing up the shot.  The people who live in on this lake & surrounding area are very lucky to have such amazing views, just about every night & morning.....  unreal.

Not all the pictures, but all of the posters I’ve made from Reno

So, I have all kinds of photos from the USA Men's Boxing Olympic Trials in Reno, NV. It was way back in December 2015. I have made a few pages & groups on Facebook, but I haven't posted all the "Posters" that I have made anywhere yet. Especially, not on my website. These are all for sale at extremely reasonable prices. I am looking to have an online store up where people can just order them straight without having to contact me & arrange price & payment, blablabla. I am going to Colorado & Montana this summer & was going to come home to build the online store to sell some of those photos anyways. So, look for that coming in the future.

But, I really enjoyed this event & making all these posters.

Last Night’s Sunset from Spring Branch | Houston, TX

Well, it is now 4am....  Up all night working on my website, uploading pictures, changing the format, wondering what the hell am I doing, say to myself "dang I need another computer to do all this faster....."  So, the sun was sun was setting last night & it started to rain.  It was really beautiful lighting as the sun was shining through the evening shower, this picture does no justice!  I tried the wide angle lens that I have, but ended up using my old trusty Nikon 24-140 f4 that has all the bells & whistles Nikon had to offer like 6 years ago, lol.  Anyway, here's your moment of Zen!
